Microsoft steps into the world of tablets with the 10.6 inch Windows 8 device. Two variants of Surface have been announced – a low-power Windows RT device and a full-fledged tablet with Windows 8 Pro. Both the variants will be encased in a
magnesium case, VaporMg Case and will have an in-built kickstand that will let the tablets stand vertically.
The low-power tablet is 9.3mm thick, weighs 676grams, and will be running on ARM processor. It will come pre-installed with MS Office 15 and support Metro apps. The tablet will also support USB 2.0. It will have 32 or 64GB of internal storage.
The higher variant will have Intel processor and support for all kinds of apps, including the ones that are directly used on a PC. The tablet comes with higher resolution, improved battery, 64 or 128GB of internal storage, and USB 3.0 connectivity. Weighing 903grams, the feature packed device will be 13.5mm thick.
The tablets will come with specifically designed covers, an attachable touch keyboard, and sleek 5mm physical keyboard.
